Brazilian guitarist and songwriter, Sessa released his debut record in 2019. Grandeza points to new, subtle directions for modern Brazilian music. With visceral, sensual lyrics in the vein of Caetano Veloso, and melodic flourishes akin to Tom Jobim and Arthur Verocai, the music also gets a deliberate minimalist treatment more reminiscent of Leonard Cohen. The real twist is the mystic jazz veil of Moondog and Pharoah Sanders.
