Robbie Robertson - Filmworks: Insomnia (RSD Black Friday)

This RSD Black Friday release Filmworks: Insomnia celebrates Robbie Robertson's contribution to classic films, The Last Waltz, Carny, and Raging Bull. 

Released in conjunction with his memoir, Insomnia name which explores his decades long creative partnership with Martin Scorsese, Filmworks: Insomnia features tracks from those three scores, including a previously unissued track from the film Carny. Developed with Robbie’s estate, the release is a look into the genesis of Robertson’s film work, and shows how his informed take on the musical element compliments the visual.

Features liner notes longtime noted film/television music expert Jon Burlingame which not only address the music of the films featured, but of the Robertson/Scorsese connection. Insomnia shows how Robbie’s music transcends the silver screen. It is difficult to imagine a film without music. It’s also incredible to hear how perfectly Robertson’s film music lives on alone.
