Calvin Harris - 18 Months

By 2011, Scottish producer Calvin Harris had a solid career going as a dance-pop singer and producer with two albums and a fair number of hits under his belt, but his collaboration with Rihanna on “We Found Love” gave his profile a stratospheric boost.

On 18 Months, named for the duration of its creation, Harris mostly steps away from the microphone to showcase an all-star cast of vocalists including Kelis, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Ne-Yo, and Dizzee Rascal. The album’s sound, with its melancholy and romantic lyrics, impassioned vocal build-ups, and pounding beats all coated with layers of shiny synths and sparkling melodies, generated a whopping fifteen singles.
