Dave’s acclaimed debut album, Psychodrama, is a concept record structured as an immersive therapy session. It chronicles his internal struggles with mental health, the impact of his brother's incarceration, and systemic racial inequity in the UK.
The record is split into a three-act structure and anchored by spoken-word interludes of Dave speaking to a therapist. Act 1: Environment explores Dave's upbringing in South London, street politics, and the hardships faced by young Black males. Act 2: Relationships delves into the complexities of romance, family dynamics, and the deep emotional void left by his father's absence. Act 3: Social Compass broadens the scope to tackle heavy societal issues, including systemic racism and domestic abuse. Highlights include "Black", "Streatham", and "Location".
