One of the greatest and most heart-warming word-of-mouth successes in music, David Gray was nearly at the point of giving up on a commercial music career when this album suddenly took off. White Ladder features the timeless hits "This Year's Love", "Babylon", "Sail Away" and his heartrending cover of Soft Cell's "Say Hello Wave Goodbye".

Gray says "What happened with White Ladder involved more than music. It was a sort of heart and soul moment of total surrender for everybody involved, for me and the audience. That was it. It doesn't get any better than that."
