Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of We Want Miles, a collection of live recordings from Boston, New York (where he had played his last gig in 1975) and Tokyo from 1981, and they're among the first live recordings made after an extended hiatus. But unlike his 1981 comeback album The Man With The Horn, on We Want Miles, Davis has rediscovered his famed embouchure and this album was released to great critical acclaim in 1982, winning a Grammy for 'Best Jazz Instrumental Performance' on the way. This is the first vinyl reissue since its original release in 1982

Miles' second recording since ending his six-year retirement was one of his best of the 1980s. Unlike his bands from the 1970s, this particular unit leaves plenty of space and plays much more melodically. Guitarist Mike Stern lets loose some fury, but electric bassist Marcus Miller is not reluctant to walk now and then in a straight-ahead fashion, drummer Al Foster and percussionist Mino Cinelu are tasteful, and Bill Evans gets in a few good spots on soprano. As for Davis, he was gradually regaining his earlier form.

Limited Edition OPAQUE YELLOW double vinyl produced by Get On Down Records for Columbia Records in 2022. Remastered from the original analog tapes. Faithfully replicated artwork gatefold sleeve. Includes Japanese OBI strip. US Import.
