Room Service stands as a solid milestone in the Swedish duo's catalog. The album was originally released in the spring of 2001 and became the last studio album from the duo's original heyday before Marie Fredriksson's tragic brain tumor diagnosis in 2002 forced Roxette to take an indefinite break.

On Room Service, Roxette truly embraced the polished, synth-driven sound that characterized European pop in the early 00s. Highlights like the first single "The Centre of the Heart" and the energetic "Real Sugar" combined Per Gessle's sure sense for catchy melodies with disco-rock elements, while "Milk and Toast and Honey" highlighted Marie Fredriksson's timeless and emotional vocals.
