Love released their self-titled debut album in spring of 1966. The album features Arthur Lee's burgeoning songwriting on tracks like "A Message To Pretty", "Emotions", and "Mushroom Clouds". It is a product of the time with folk-rock stylistic influences of The Byrds fused with garage rock energy. The album also features a speedy cover of "Hey Joe" before the song was popularized by Jimi Hendrix, as well as Burt Bacharach's "My Little Red Book".
