Pale Communion is the 2014 studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. Produced by Mikael Akerfeldt and mixed by Steven Wilson, the album was a result of member Mikael Akerfeldt's desire "to do something more melodic" and does not contain "growls or death metal vocals". The record has been described as "the missing link between Damnation and Ghost Reveries" and likened to Deep Purple's In Rock and the early music of King Crimson.
