After Buzzcocks disbanded in 1981, frontman Pete Shelley teamed up with Martin Rushent, embracing the producer’s newly acquired synths and drum machines to rework his tracks, crafting a new blueprint for electronic pop music in the process - one that would soon achieve massive mainstream success with another Rushent production, the runaway hit Dare by the Human League.

Shelley combines his urgent songwriting with chugging synthesizers and electronic percussion, creating songs that straddle rock radio and 80s London’s nascent club scene, and the album sounds as fresh today as it did upon release. Regrettably, the innovative nature of Shelley's work has often been overshadowed by the influence of his former band and Human League - and was not helped by the BBC banning the single "Homosapien" (though it became an electro LGBT anthem in gay dance clubs).

Fans can dive deeper into the Homosapien era with this expanded edition, featuring rare demos and B-sides.

This 2LP vinyl edition produced by Domino Recordings in 2025. Gatefold sleeve. Includes exclusive photo print and new liner notes by Clinton Heylin.
