Snoop Doggy Dogg returned with his sophomore album 'Tha Doggfather' in 1996, released on Death Row Records. It features the singles "Snoop's Upside Ya Head", "Vapors" and "Doggfather".

A lot happened to Snoop Doggy Dogg between his debut, Doggystyle, and his second album, Tha Doggfather. During those three years, he became the most notorious figure in hip-hop through a much-publicized murder trial, where he was found not guilty, and he also became a father.

With the departure of Dr. Dre from Death Row Records, who had produced Snoop's massively successful Doggystyle record, Tha Doggfather was produced and mixed by DJ Pooh. In addition to DJ Pooh, Daz Dillinger and several other producers contributed to this album.
