Todd Rundgren - Runt: The Ballad Of Todd Rundgren (Rhino Reserve) [Rocktober 2026]

• Available October 30th, 2026.
• Ship orders including this title will be held back.

Todd Rundgren’s Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren builds on his early songwriting strengths with a stronger focus on melodic pop craftsmanship and introspective balladry. Released in 1971, the album blends soft rock, soul influences, and baroque pop textures, showcasing Rundgren’s ability to shift effortlessly between tender emotion and playful experimentation.

The record features some of his most enduring early songs, balancing lush arrangements with stripped-down, intimate moments that highlight his vocal clarity and melodic instincts. While more cohesive and confident than his debut, it still carries a sense of exploration, hinting at the ambitious studio experiments that would soon define his career. Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren stands as a key early statement from an artist quickly evolving into one of rock’s most inventive figures.

Exclusive heavyweight vinyl produced by Rhino Records for Rocktober 2026. This Rhino Reserve Audiophile edition was lacquer cut from the Original Analog Master by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab.
