Tom Waits - Blue Valentine

On his 1978 album 'Blue Valentine', Tom Waits expanded the imagery in his songs and the instrumental palette giving his fans a new favourite album. The record features his classics "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis"; "Whistlin' Past the Graveyard" and more. 

Produced by Bones Howe, the album opens with a brilliant cover of "Somewhere" from West Side Story, and the grizzled singer-songwriter unveils raw, blusier numbers that trade in the piano for the guitar, which is a departure from earlier works of Waits.
