Black Star is the third studio album by Ghanaian-American artist Amaarae offering an experimental blend of hedonistic house, trance, and Afrobeats music. The album serves as a queer-coded transnational 'homecoming' focusing on themes of Ghanaian pride, lust and transactional relationships. Black Star is a masterwork of sonic invention that acts as both a soft introspective album even while dabbling in harder more confrontational house music.

The album showcases both Amaarae's passion for Afrodiasporic music as well as contemporary classic house anthems. She enlists help from PinkPantheress, Bree Runway and the supermodel herself Naomi Campbell while interpolating both Cher's modern day anthem "Believe" and Kelis' signature hit "Milkshake." Highlights include "S.M.O.", "Girlie-Pop", and "Fyneshyt".
