South African jazz powerhouse Letta Mbulu released her debut record in 1967 - three years after fleeing Apartheid and beginning a 25 year exile in New York City. While in the US she connected with fellow émigrés Miriam Makeba and Jonas Gwangwa, and recorded & toured with Cannonball Adderley, David Axelrod and Harry Belafonte. Perhaps most notably, Mbulu provided the vocal parts for the television series 'Roots' as well as the film 'The Colour Purple'. In 1986 the singer was recruited to sing a chant in Swahili on Michael Jackson's single "Liberian Girl".

Heavyweight vinyl produced by Endless Happiness in 2022.
