Metronomy - English Riviera (10th Anniversary)

Metronomy have changed tack for their third studio album, The English Riviera, abandoning their indie-disco sensibilities in favor of a more laid-back but equally idiosyncratic, sun-kissed sound. Most of the self-produced ten tracks are a love letter to lead singer Joseph Mount's hometown of Devon, and a romantic fantasy of the seaside resort he used to drive around in as a youth.
Sonically, the record swings from '70s Fleetwood Mac, to archaic video game style synths, to Serge Gainsbourg-esque jazz-rock, and '60s lounge-funk - occasionally reverting back to their more familiar electronic roots.
