Hideous Bastard is the debut solo album from Oliver Sim, the vocalist and bassist of The xx. The record is the culmination of two years of writing and recording, a love of queer horror movies, and lived experiences unpacking themes of shame, fear, and masculinity.

Oliver is joined by bandmate Jamie xx, producing with an elegant touch, and Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat/Communards) features on guest vocals. Full of surreal pop sounds that escape into the ether and break free, Hideous Bastard is a bold and ambitious debut that sees Oliver explore his voice and capacity to evoke emotion, melding masculinity and tenderness, beauty with a baritone.
