For his third studio album The Colour in Anything English singer-songwriter and producer James Blake stepped out of his London bedroom and invited in collaborators, a shift reflecting the album's themes of new places, new friendships, and new love. Rick Rubin co-produces 7 tracks here, and Frank Ocean and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon both make appearances. While still a typically hard, frank, and unsparing listen, Blake's more expansive and maximalist approach lends a welcome new dynamism to his work.
Highlights include "Radio Silence" and "I Need A Forest Fire."
