Back to Oakland is the fourth album by American R&B and funk band Tower of Power, originally released in 1974.
Tougher and funkier than it's self-titled predecessor, the bands' horn section reaffirmed its reputation in both soul and pop circles as one of the best in the business, and the record was voted by Modern Drummer Magazine as a masterclass in percussion. Features the ballad "Time will Tell" and the rousing "Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream)."
Limited Edition audiophile vinyl edition produced by Rhino Records for their "Start Your Ear Off Right" campaign in 2026. Newly remastered with lacquers cut from the original analog tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab.
