Decades later, Five Days in July continues to be one of the most acclaimed and finest albums in Canadian music history. With a wide range of music, many experimental tracks, and the distinct feel that it was indeed recorded in a farmhouse, all the pieces slide together in this excellent album. With the exception of a few upbeat feel-good numbers along the way, the album is a pretty mellow affair, reportedly inspired by Neil Young's timeless Harvest record. Five Days in July is Blue Rodeo's ode to the ecstasies of love and the inevitable sadness of when it leaves.
